The Subsea Blog

OK, so the Rio Oil and Gas exhibition was less than half the size it’s been in the past and undoubtedly visitor numbers will be down on the 2014 edition but, as they say, you reap what you sow. Balmoral worked hard to ensure that potential visitors to the event knew we were going to be there. The news of our new subsea test centre that’s nearing completion, our manufacturing efficiency enhancements, SURF product accreditations and the presence of senior engineering and business development personnel meant we enjoyed a busy event. And that’s before we talk about the whisky tasting! As is generally the case at any industry gathering the mood amongst conference delegates, speakers, exhibitors and visitors was upbeat.…

Now that the dust has settled over the Olympic arenas in Rio de Janeiro it’s time to focus on the main event for 2016; Rio Oil and Gas. The doors will open at Riocentro on October 24th to what has become South America’s biggest oil and gas show. Aberdeen’s Lord Lieutenant George Adam presented the Queen’s Award certificate to Jim Milne on our OTC stand We were delighted with our sponsorship of the UK Energy Excellence reception at the Hilton Post Oak on the first evening of the exhibition; the…

It’s that time of year again. For those of us based in Aberdeen and travelling to OTC 2015 for the annual exhibiting and networking extravaganza it’s time to look out the short-sleeved shirts and comfy exhibition shoes. Many of us, of course, are also polishing the golf shoes and giving the clubs a spring clean, but that’s a different story. The Hilton Post Oak hotel will soon be transformed into a mini-Aberdeen where the calls of ‘Fit like?’ and ‘When did you get in?’ will replace the more usual refrains of ‘How y’all doin’?’ and ‘Have a great day’. It’s estimated that well over 300 Aberdeen business people will rest their heads in the hotel during OTC week. A week…
