Leading tank manufacturer moves to Llantrisant

Media Release: Llantrisant, UK. 24 May 2012

Leading European design and manufacturing company, Balmoral Tanks, has opened a new 51,000 sq ft factory at Llantrisant Business Park, Pontyclun, where it will manufacture its range of commercial water storage tanks.

The company’s new facility was officially opened today (Thursday 24th May 2012) by Edwina Hart MBE OStJ AM, the Welsh Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science.

Balmoral has a long association with South Wales, through its acquisition of Horseley Bridge Tanks, based in Taffs Well, in 2003. The decision to make a £4m+ investment in the new facility was built on the success of the Horseley Bridge product and the new facility has already created 38 jobs. It is expected, as the company grows, additional jobs will be generated.

A recognised global leader in its field, Balmoral Tanks will be producing hot press moulded and steel sectional water storage tanks, as well as bolted cylindrical galvanized steel tanks, at the new facility.

Much of the company’s output is produced for overseas markets including mainland Europe, West Africa and the Middle East.

Mrs Hart said: “I am delighted the company is re-investing in Wales and chose to base this new facility in Wales because they have been impressed by the quality of the workforce.

“It’s good news to hear the company has already created 38 new jobs with potential for more. I wish them every success for the future and the Welsh Government will continue to work with Balmoral Tanks to support any future growth plans.”

Consolidation

Bringing a 30 year track record to the area, Balmoral Tanks’ managing director, Allan Joyce, is delighted to have united the company’s water tanks manufacturing operations from various parts of the UK at Llantrisant.

He told us: “We are pleased to have such a significant presence in South Wales. The area has an outstanding reputation for producing high quality goods. Our company’s commitment to continuous improvement has taken us to the forefront of the global water storage market.

“As a company we are recognised for being innovative, customer focused and highly proactive. These are traits that are synonymous with South Wales and we look forward to continuing our long and successful relationship with the local communities.”

Balmoral Tanks operates predominantly in the environmental and civil engineering sectors where all products are monitored for their ecological impact. The company works to an internationally recognised environmental framework and is regularly audited to ensure its practices are, at a minimum, in line with industry practice.

The company’s water tanks are approved for the storage of potable water and for use in fire fighting sprinkler systems.
