The test centre at Balmoral Park is fully equipped to provide a comprehensive range of laboratory, hydrostatic and mechanical test services on surface and subsurface products.

As well as providing an in-house capability the centre is well used by external bodies and authorities carrying out tests on individual components or full subsea assemblies.

Development laboratory
Balmoral’s lab utilises state-of-the-art test equipment for a wide range of tests in support of its development and production QC activities. These tests include:
• Tensile, compression, flexural and shear
• Tensile and compressive creep
• Hydrostatic compression and collapse
• Water ingress rate, water diffusion coefficient and
water saturation values
• Glass transition temperature
• Resilience

Hydrostatic testing
The hydrostatic facility operates a suite of pressure vessels rated to 7000msw equivalent. Standard tests include:
• Uplift determination
• Water ingress
• Instrumented buoyancy loss
• Hydrostatic compression and creep
• Hydrostatic collapse
• Bulk modulus
• Buckle arrestment performance

Mechanical testing
Large scale equipment performs slip, flexure and load testing across a variety of equipment and applications.
