Laura and Sean: 10k runners

On the 24th of May 2010, Laura Napier and her boyfriend, Sean Hepburn, both from Aberdeen, will be running the Aberdeen Baker Hughes 10K to raise funds for Friends of ANCHOR.

Laura’s story
Laura and Sean“Sean and I decided we wanted to raise money for Friends of ANCHOR because I am a patient at the ANCHOR unit at Foresterhill and have been for the past 8 years, due to the blood condition ITP.

(Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is the condition of having a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) of no known cause.

While ITP is easily monitored and manageable, it is only one of many blood disorders and diseases which the ANCHOR unit deals with on a day-to-day basis.

I feel that over the years I have been very lucky to have had tremendous help and support from Dr King and all the medical team including the wonderful caring nurses at the ANCHOR unit. We both decided we really wanted to fundraise for Friends of ANCHOR as we are aware what a great job they are doing of supporting the ANCHOR unit and its patients. To show how very grateful I am and as a massive thank you to everyone at ANCHOR we are going to run the 10K. Sean is joining me and together we will both be doing our best to collect as many donations as possible”.
