Vetco Gray: 10K runners

A group of 23 Vetco Gray employees comprising of apprentices and mangers will be participating in the Baker Hughes 10K run in Aberdeen on Sunday 23rd May 2010. Raising funds for their chosen charity, Friends of ANCHOR.

Last year Gavin Slessor (Apprentice Manager) encouraged the Aberdeen apprentices to do some fund raising and they took part in the Baker Hughes 10K supporting the charity Myeloma UK. This year they decided to run again and were looking for a different charity to support.

Peter Caira, a 4th year apprentice with Vetco Gray, had the sad news of his Dad's death at the start of the year. Peter's Dad was diagnosed with Myeloma in 2001. After a very brave and long battle he sadly past away in the ANCHOR unit in Aberdeen ARI on 3rd January 2010. Peter and the rest of the running team decided to support Friends of ANCHOR this year after all the support and care offered by the charity during Peter's Dad's illness.

Peter said "The ANCHOR unit was so caring while my Dad was in hospital, the private room he was in and 24 hour nursing care was very comforting for him. I only found out about Friends of ANCHOR and how they support the ANCHOR unit while my Dad was in hospital and feel that it is a great charity which clearly makes a huge difference to patients and their families."

We would like to thank everyone who makes a donation to Friends of ANCHOR and also those who come along to support us on the day!
