Leading cancer research

Thanks to generous supporters Friends of ANCHOR have funded ground-breaking research to improve diagnosis and the treatment for cancer.

Thank you for joining us as we dared to DREAM BIG to see Aberdeen become a centre for world-class cancer research.

Last year, in our milestone 20th anniversary, we’ve launched our biggest fundraising appeal yet. We’ve pledged a total commitment of £1 million to the University of Aberdeen’s ambitious £4.5m project to attract and recruit a world-class cancer research team to the North-east.

This is a huge investment that will ultimately see clinical care excelled for cancer patients in the North-east and all-important clinical trials increased in the region to bring us another step forward in the fight against cancer.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped us hit our £1m target in our milestone 20th year.

Leading the fight against cancer

Thanks to generous supporters, Friends of ANCHOR have funded ground-breaking research to improve diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients.

Since 1997, our research fellows at Aberdeen University and Robert Gordon’s University have taken important steps forward in the fight against cancer.

We have invested over £1.7m into local research, including 59 vital projects. From small, pilot projects to major studies over several years.

These projects are enabling patients in the North-east to benefit from access to clinical trials as well as having high-calibre skilled doctors who are attracted to Aberdeen due to the strength of the research opportunities on the Foresterhill site.
