Grampian Macmillan Partnership Project

Partnership Working for you

The Grampian Macmillan Partnership Project involves collaboration between Macmillan Cancer Support, The Pensions Service and Grampian Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to provide a service for people affected by cancer who are living in the Grampian area. The service is available regardless of age.

Patients being treated in the Grampian area, but who live in Orkney or Shetland, can also recieve assistance from the project. Initial support will be provided by one of the Grampain Project outlets, and ongoing support by Orkney and Shetland Citizens Advice Bureau or the Pension Service, who will provide home visits for the over 60s.

Why?

For many people, a cancer diagnosis has a huge financial impact. It is a time when living costs may rise with;

• travel costs to and from hospital
• increased heating and telephone bills
• laundry bills
• prescription costs
• buying more clothes due to weight loss/gain

At the same time as costs increase, income often decreases if people have long periods away from work or have to give up their jobs.

What we do

We provide help to anyone affected by cancer, including family members or carers living with, or caring for, someone with cancer. We can help with issues such as:

• benefits
• debt
• housing
• employment
• filling in forms
• tribunal representation
• general advice

How we do it

We work in partnership with:
• Macmillan Cancer Support
• The Pension Service
• Grampian Citizens Advice Bureau
• Orkney & Shetland Citizens Advice Bureau
• Health professionals
• Social care professionals

We have three project workers based in Aberdeen, Banff & Buchan and Moray CAB.
