Balmoral HydroClear awarded technical innovation award
Leading design and manufacturing company, Balmoral Tanks, has seen its third generation sewage treatment plant, the Balmoral HydroClear™, secure a Technical Innovation Award from the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS).
The RHASS judges awarded a silver medal to the business and felt that the Balmoral HydroClear was: “An idea that should help farmers gain planning approval on sites where they may previously have failed. Good for the environment and well thought out.”
The CE accredited HydroClear, which caters for populations of 6 to 50, “Delivers a class-leading performance of 97% pollutant removal across the board”, states Tim Mackley, the company’s wastewater product manager.
“Reliable performance, economic through-life costs, odour minimisation and silent operation are the most important factors for the end-user and we have tackled these issues head on. We feel that we have created a new benchmark as far as package treatment plant is concerned.”
“Winning this award means a lot to Balmoral Tanks”, said the company’s MD, Allan Joyce. “To receive a technical innovation award from the RHASS reflects the resources and commitment invested by the company to ensure we provide best in class products.
“Since launch in 2008, the HydroClear has performed consistently in terms of producing very high quality effluent treatment and by employing efficient manufacturing operations we have kept the price-point extremely competitive.”
Balmoral’s distribution network has reported strong interest and good market penetration with the HydroClear. Stewart Morrison, business manager with CSC Crop Protection in Perth, said: “Generally speaking, top of the range products are over-engineered and too complicated but this is not the case with the Balmoral HydroClear.
“Historically, high maintenance and ongoing operating costs have put many people off installing sewage treatment plants but the HydroClear’s easy, low cost installation and two-yearly servicing should mean a greater uptake which will ultimately be of benefit to the environment.”
